our cemeteriesAlthough small in population, the modern-day Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is the fourth-largest municipality by area in Alberta. It is an amalgamation of five former towns and villages, and also encompasses several communities that no longer exist - ghost towns, you could say. Most of these places had their own cemetery, and sometimes more than one, which is why we have so many cemeteries today.
These cemeteries are scattered throughout our municipality and include, roughly east to west: Passburg Cemetery - 1907 Hillcrest Cemetery - 1909, Provincial Historic Resource Bellevue (St. Cyril's) Catholic Cemetery - 1929 Bellevue Union Cemetery - 1918 Frank Cemetery - 1902, now buried beneath the Frank Slide Frank Slide Memorial Cemetery - 1922 Lille Cemetery - 1905 Blairmore (St. Anne's) Catholic Cemetery - 1905 Blairmore Old Union Cemetery - 1902 Blairmore New Union Cemetery - 1975 Coleman Union Cemetery - 1903 Coleman (Holy Spirit) Catholic Cemetery - 1909 If you wish, you can purchase a cemetery guidebook from the Crowsnest Museum, located within Coleman National Historic Site here in the Crowsnest Pass.
